Yes. Vietnam is included in the Russian unified electronic visa programme for qualifying short visits.

A Vietnamese applicant needs the ordinary passport intended for the whole journey, a complete image of its biodata page, a separate recent portrait and accurate contact details. The official unified eVisa process does not ask for an invitation, hotel confirmation or document proving the visit purpose.

Copy the Latin-script identity printed in the passport rather than translating Vietnamese characters again. Confirm the surname and given-name fields, all name components, passport number, issue and expiry dates, sex and date of birth against both the visual page and machine-readable zone.

Before opening the form, a Vietnamese traveller should place the physical passport beside the full flight sequence and create a short private audit sheet. Record the passport field order, the exact Latin name, intended Russian arrival airport, border date and final departure date. Then open the portrait and passport scan at full size. This sequence catches three errors that are easy to miss on a phone: a reversed name assumption, an unreadable machine-readable line and a connection that reaches Russia on the day after the date first entered. Applicants living outside Vietnam should also make sure their current contact details are usable throughout the review. The purpose is not to create extra evidence for the authority. Can Vietnamese citizens use the Russian unified eVisa?

Yes. Vietnamese citizens travelling on an eligible ordinary passport can request the unified eVisa for qualifying short visits.

The route can support tourism, private visits, short business activity and listed cultural, scientific, sporting or humanitarian purposes. It is not suitable for employment, residence or long-term education. The applicant should describe the real visit instead of choosing tourism merely because it looks simpler.

Eligibility is personal. Every adult and child needs a separate application tied to an individual passport. Children under six are exempt from the official consular fee but still require their own form, portrait and approval. A family booking does not create a family visa.

A Vietnamese-Russian dual national should not use the eVisa route because Russian citizens enter under Russian citizenship rules. A traveller who already holds another valid Russian visa can use it according to its printed conditions without obtaining an additional eVisa.

How should Vietnamese names be divided between surname and given names?

Follow the field labels and Latin spelling on the passport exactly; do not reverse the name order or remove middle-name components to imitate an airline profile.

Vietnamese names are commonly spoken and displayed surname-first, while international forms may show separate surname and given-name boxes. The passport is the controlling document. Read the labels rather than guessing from customary order, and retain every printed component. A shortened social name is not a safe substitute.

Vietnamese diacritics may not appear in the same way in the machine-readable zone. Use the passport’s travel representation and review the transliteration before submission. Do not translate a name into English, invent hyphens or copy an old passport spelling without comparing the current document.

Airline systems sometimes join multiple given names. That display limitation does not justify entering incomplete visa data. Keep the eVisa passport-exact and ask the carrier to resolve any material ticket mismatch. After approval, compare the grant notification with the physical passport one field at a time.

How should a traveller from Vietnam plan a multi-stop route to Russia?

Keep the full itinerary visible and verify the exact Russian arrival airport on the official eVisa checkpoint list.

Journeys from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or another Vietnamese airport may connect through an Asian, Gulf or other international hub. The eVisa controls admission to Russia; it does not provide permission to enter or transit another country. Separate tickets, baggage collection and terminal changes may alter transit requirements.

Do not check only “Moscow.” Moscow has several airports, and the ticket must identify an airport accepted for eVisa entry. The same care applies to Saint Petersburg, Vladivostok and regional destinations. A domestic flight after lawful border clearance is different from making the first Russian arrival at an unlisted checkpoint.

If the carrier changes the route after the visa is issued, review the new transit conditions and Russian entry point. Save the complete itinerary and approval offline. Long journeys make missed connections possible, so avoid planning arrival on the final day of visa validity.

What makes Vietnamese passport and portrait files usable?

The biodata page must be complete and readable, while the portrait must be a separate recent frontal image without filters or a busy background.

Do not crop the small face picture from the passport and upload it as the applicant photograph. The portrait serves a different identification purpose. Use even lighting, natural appearance, correct head position and a plain background. Beauty filters, smoothing and aggressive compression can change facial detail.

For the passport page, keep all edges and the machine-readable lines visible. Laminate glare can hide letters and digits, especially when a phone flash is used. Photograph the page squarely in bright indirect light, then open the selected file from the upload preview rather than assuming the correct image was attached.

Families should name files privately by traveller and document type. Similar Vietnamese names and repeated phone downloads can lead to a parent’s scan being attached to a child. A final side-by-side check prevents this avoidable error.

When should a Vietnamese applicant submit the form?

The legal window runs from 86 days to 4 days before intended entry, but submitting earlier leaves room for correction and flight changes.

The Russian authority reviews a complete application in no more than four calendar days. If a form is returned, the corrected submission creates a new practical timing point. Tet travel, school holidays and fixed group departures can make a last-minute correction financially costly even though weekends count in the official period.

The 120-day visa validity and 30-day maximum stay are different limits. Entry late in the validity period can reduce the available stay because departure must occur before the printed expiry. The visa is also single entry; leaving Russia ends its use even when unused days remain.

Prepare files before the application window opens, submit when dates are realistic and avoid irreversible bookings that depend completely on approval. Once issued, check the identity and dates immediately rather than waiting until airport check-in.

How can a Vietnamese family prevent mixed applications?

Maintain one passport, portrait, application ID and decision record for each traveller, then compare only genuinely shared itinerary details.

A useful family checklist has one row per person with legal name, passport number, expiry, date of birth and status. Do not duplicate an adult form and edit it from memory. Open the correct passport for every submission and verify the upload thumbnail before moving forward.

Shared flights and accommodation can describe the group journey, but one approval does not cover another person. If a child’s application is returned, the approved adults should not assume the child may board. Check every status separately before departure.

Where a minor travels with one parent or another adult, carrier or border authorities may request relationship or consent material independently of the eVisa upload list. Verify those rules for the actual route. Keep sensitive files on a trusted device and avoid sending complete passport images through informal messaging groups.

What should Vietnamese travellers carry for arrival?

Carry the linked passport, eVisa notification, Russia-valid medical insurance, destination address and a copy of the complete route.

An electronic copy may be accepted, but a printed notification is useful during a long journey where airline staff or border points have limited connectivity. Approval does not remove ordinary carrier and border checks. Be ready to state the genuine purpose, accommodation and intended departure.

Hotels generally arrange migration registration. A private host should understand the arrival-notification duty, normally within seven working days under the official guidance. Ask for the registration record when one is produced and keep it with the travel documents.

Use an authorized checkpoint for departure as well as entry. Monitor flight changes, count the stay conservatively and leave before both the thirty-day ceiling and visa expiry. Weather, missed connections and ticket problems do not automatically extend immigration status.

Entry, insurance and registration

Approved checkpoints: the eVisa is accepted only at border points on the Russian Government’s current list. Entry through one approved point does not permit departure through an unlisted point.

Medical insurance: eVisa visitors generally need insurance valid in the Russian Federation for the complete stay unless a reciprocal exemption applies.

Migration registration: hotels normally register foreign guests. For private accommodation, the host should follow the current arrival-notification procedure, generally within seven working days.

What an approved Russia eVisa does — and does not do

An issued unified eVisa gives the named traveller permission to present the linked passport at an authorized Russian checkpoint during the printed validity period. It removes the need to obtain a visa sticker at a consulate for the eligible visit. It does not replace the passport, medical insurance, carrier checks or the Border Service’s final admission decision.

The permission is single entry. Once the traveller leaves the Russian Federation, the same eVisa cannot normally be used for a second arrival, even when its 120-day validity period has not ended. The validity period is also not the permitted length of stay. The visitor may remain for no more than 30 days after entry and never beyond the expiry printed on the visa.

The eVisa does not authorize employment, permanent residence or long-term education. A short business meeting and paid work are not the same activity. Likewise, an approved visa does not grant access to territories, facilities or border zones that require separate permission. Travellers should describe the real purpose and obtain any additional authorization that their activity needs.
